This “Art and Fashion” segment takes us once again, back to the Munchkin Headquarters….. where there is housed, one of the largest graffiti collections in all of Los Angeles. Standing in front of a Shepard Fairey and Risk collaboration makes the fashion feel pretty insignificant. You have already met Risk… so let’s concentrate on Shepard…. considering he is one of the most important street and graffiti artists of our time.
From Wikipedia:
Frank Shepard Fairey (born February 15, 1970) is an American contemporary street artistgraphic designer activist and illustrator who emerged from theskateboarding scene.[3] He first became known for his “Andre the Giant Has a Posse” (…OBEY…) sticker campaign, in which he appropriated images from the comedic supermarket tabloid Weekly World News.
He became widely known during the 2008 U.S. presidential election for hisBarack Obama “Hope” poster. The Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston calls him one of today’s best known and most influential street artists.[4] His work is included in the collections at The Smithsonian, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

One evening…. my daughter Beau had the great idea to watch an art documentary. I was a bit put off…. and decided that it would be a great evening for a nap. Little did I know that the Academy Award nominated movie,“Exit Through the Gift Shop” would be the most exciting and most compelling documentary I have ever seen. Co-starring, along with Banksy and Mr. Brainwash was Shepard Fairey…. that would be the evening my adoration for this amazing artist started. If you haven’t seen this movie… it is a absolute “must see!”

The street art clothing line by Shepard Fairey can be seen on just about any body in Los Angeles on any given day. A must see… and a must purchase… join the party… and see…. and be seen in OBEY.

I had the extreme honor of meeting Shepard during the making of this wall. He was one of the humblest and nicest human beings I have ever met.
