I <3 Dessert Pizza
A few years ago I was in a well known pizza restaurant in Utah and had what could be one of the best desserts to ever grace my lips…. The Dessert Pizza! Sweet… yet savory perfection. Today we made two heart shaped crusts to celebrate the Valentine’s Day season and are bringing you two different… yet incredible versions. Plan on breaking diets when making these pies… because one you smell what’s cooking in your oven it will be impossible to not eat it! For your sipping pleasure we added in a raspberry rose margarita and a strawberry hot chocolate. Let’s get started….
First up: The Crust
I have made many pizza crusts in my life… but nothing can compare to the fresh pizza dough at Whole Foods. So full disclosure: Dough bought at Whole Foods
The Mixed Berry Pizza Pie
Mix together all the berries and roses in a large bowl add sugar and let sit in refrigerator for at least on hour to let juice of berries and roses mix with sugar…. to create the mixed berry topping.
The Strawberry Frosting
In a blender puree strawberries until smooth
In a sauce pan add in pureed strawberries and bring to a boil stirring often
After strawberries mixture is cooled blend together with butter and vanilla until smooth. Add in sugar small amounts at a time…. all while stirring. This will create a beautiful Strawberry Butter Cream frosting and the glue for the Mixed Berry Pizza
Putting it all together:
While the heart shaped pizza crust is still warm… frost with the butter cream frosting. Add on top the mixed berry & rose mixture and bake for another 12 to 15 minutes. Garnish with fresh red and pink edible flowers
Eat while warm…. Yum!
The Raspberry Rose Margarita
Muddle rasberries, honey, mint and lime in a small measuring cup. Strain through a fine mesh sieve pressing down on solids to remove all liquids. Mix with tequila and pour over crushed ice. Add roses on top and stir…yum
Valentine’s Day Peach Cobbler Pizza
We will do exactly as above with pizza crust and have standing by for Peach Cobbler Mixture
Putting it all together:
On the partially baked crust…. spread the peach mixture
After peach mixture is smoothed across crust…. Put tablespoons of the cobbler mixture all over the top. Approximately an inch a part. Bake for 15 minutes or until brown and gooey. Garnish with yellow and white edible flowers
Strawberry Hot Chocolate
After all the work you have done on your pizzas…. go to store and buy any gourmet hot chocolate mix
Make and top with a heart shaped marshmallow
Two drinks… Two pizzas… Too Much YUM!!
Big Valentine’s Day Kisses!!
