Brazilian researchers have found that a 30 minute power walk on the treadmill… two hours before bedtime will help you fall asleep faster and reach REM (rapid eye movement) sleep more efficiently. According to lead study author Marco Tulio de Mello, Ph.D., “Exercise increases the release of serotonin, a hormone responsible for feelings of relaxation that promotes more restful sleep.”  Just make sure that you allow for at least two hours in between exercise and sleep…. Otherwise you will be riding an exercise high when you are trying to fall asleep.
